15 dead as El Nino continues to wreck havoc across Kenya

The humanitarian organization in an update on Monday said the heavy rains have also affected 15,264 households and led to 1,067 livestock deaths.

The Kenya Red Cross has said at least 15 people have died due to the ongoing El Nino rains that have pounded the country in the past week.

The humanitarian organization in an update on Monday said the heavy rains have also affected 15,264 households and led to 1,067 livestock deaths.

"241 acres of agricultural farmland have been destroyed due to flash floods," Red Cross said in their statement.

Last Friday, a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam candidate was among two girls killed in Elwak Mandera County.

Northern Kenya is currently grappling with the devastating impacts of heavy rains, with Mandera County bearing the brunt of the heavy downpour, leading to widespread flooding and the displacement of hundreds of residents.

Yesterday Mandera leader led by Senator Ali called on the national government to send urgent assistance to help families whose houses have been marooned by floods.
